1. Eight Grammy Awards in a night 

In February 1984, Jackson’s hard work and dedication was paid off in the form of being awarded eight Grammy awards in just 2 hours of the 26th Annual Grammy Awards. His recently released album “Thriller” was a massive hit overall that led him to the peaks of success and his fame didn’t just hit every home in the US but people outside the US gave their hearts to him.

2. Artist of the Century at the AMA  

Can you believe someone being recognized and loved not just in a decade or few decades but a whole century? Yes, Jackson deserves that and this is something he got as well. On January 9, 2002, Jackson received the ‘Artist of the Century Award’ during the AMA (the American Music Awards).

3. We are the World – USA for Africa  

A supergroup of 45 musicians and singers, the USA for Africa, recorded a charity song ‘We Are the World’. The single was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. The song was released on March 7, 1985, in which the singers including Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Cyndi Lauper, and other famous artists including Jackson brothers themselves were seen singing and cheering for the children.

4. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – Inducted Twice

Including many artists including Stevie Nicks, Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, and other talented celebrities, Michael Jackson was among the inductees, inducted twice in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. First, in 2001, the Jacksons became the inductee and in 2002, Jackson as a solo artist took that honor.

5. Super Bowl 27 HalfTime Show  

On January 31, 1993, Michael Jackson performed on some of his greatest hits including “Billie Jean”, “Heal the World” and other songs at Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California. His remarkable performance is still in the memories of people who attended or watched it and his legacy proceeded with other artists performing during the Super Bowl Halftime.

Before presenting the award, Janet Jackson greeted the audience and a video was shown covering Jackson’s entire career. The award was given to Jackson for his strong influence in the music industry.

Since a small age, young Michael was fond of singing and this passion took him and his brothers to the peaks of success when the world saw their debut singles “I’ll be there”, “I want you back”, “ABC” and “The love you save” on the Billboard chart. 

9. Billie Jean – first black artist music video to be shown by MTV 

Another remarkable achievement of Jackson was his music video “Billie Jean” got the honor of being the first music video by a black singer to be aired by MTV which is something we can relate to ‘breaking the racial barriers’.
